Relevanssi Premium 2.31 and free 4.28 have very short changelog lists but are still big updates. In a move that was long overdue, we have redesigned the Relevanssi settings pages. We have also consolidated all Relevanssi admin pages under one sidebar menu item. User search log and admin search used to be under Dashboard and Relevanssi settings under Settings. Now all are under Relevanssi. We believe this will make using Relevanssi easier.
The new settings pages reduce the number of tabs and group things in a more sensible way. We have also added lots of instructions and guidelines in the settings pages.
We have also taken the opportunity to remove some unnecessary settings.
- Keyword matching: It is no longer possible to set the keyword matching to “Partial words, if no whole word matches”. This was a confusing setting and in most cases, choosing either “Whole words” or “Partial words” is the correct choice. If you must use this setting, you can set the
relevanssi_fuzzyoption tosometimes. - Category exclusion and restriction: The settings for overall category exclusion and restriction are removed from the search settings. These were blanket settings that were rarely necessary and often caused hard-to-solve problems if accidentally enabled. If you need to do category exclusion and restriction, it’s best to use taxonomy queries.
Other changes
- Built-in support for Document Library Pro above-documents search box. Relevanssi works well with Document Library Pro out of the box, but now also automatically takes over the search box that’s above document lists. Make sure you have the
dlp_documentpost type indexed! - Support for Slim SEO “Hide from search results” feature.
