Relevanssi is built for a scale of up to tens of thousands of posts. It can work with larger amounts of posts, but you’re never going to get split-second results from Relevanssi. This is because Relevanssi – and other search plugins like it – use the same database server as your WordPress site, and that just generally isn’t set up for the requirements of lightning-fast search. It also means Relevanssi takes up a lot of space from your WordPress database, which may be problematic if your hosting provides limited space.
